Conradh na Gaeilge Hamburg
Have fun learning the Irish language online and in person - with fluent Irish speakers!
Welcome Address by Micheál Ó Muireagáin, the co-founder of Conradh na Gaeilge, Hamburg
Who we are, what we do
We are an online community who come together once weekly to study the Irish language together. We also meet monthly, either online or in person, for a ciorcal comhrá (conversation group)
We meet weekly on Zoom. Covid-19 has shown us that Zoom is very well suited to language education. Students can partake from the comfort of their own home. It enables us as a group to connect in real time with people from all over the world.
Regular Ciorcal Comhrá/Conversation Group
We meet once monthly to converse with each other in Irish, sometimes on Zoom and sometimes in person in Hamburg. This affords students a chance to practice their Irish. It also enables others who cannot take part in the classes to join us for a meet-up as Gaeilge.
Regular meet-ups in Hamburg
We try to meet-up in person in Hamburg as often as we can. Social interaction is an important part of our group. In November ’21 we had a week-end of events in Hamburg and our students travelled from all over Germany to be there. The week-end was a success and everybody enjoyed it!
Have fun learning the Irish language with native speakers. We study grammar, conversational Irish, poetry, mythology, short stories, songs and music. We have adapted Irish short stories for film, where the whole class joins in to make a short video that we submit to Seachtain na Gaeilge (a special week promoting the Irish language) and share on social media. We are friendly, people-centred and are very competitive as regards course fees.
